VNT for ImageJ is a product from an ongoing undergraduate student research project at Truman State University studying the mathematical modeling of vascular networks. The primary contact overseeing the project is Dr. Jason Miller. This URE collaborates with Dr. Robert Baer and Dr. James Cox of Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCOM).

The primary motivation for this toolkit is to assist scientists and researchers in extracting quantitative information from angiogenesis and vasculogenesis experiments of in vitro assays.

Image processing and analysis is not new. Extracting quantitative information is an exhaustively slow operation when done by hand. To solve this problem, this toolkit performs a variety of image processing and analysis techniques to extract accurate, robust quantitative information from images of vascular networks.

This toolkit is a series of plugins and macros designed for ImageJ, an open source image processing program developed and maintained by Wayne Rasband of the NIH.
